Here is an example of what a mandrill looks like.
General Animal information:The Mandrill is one of the few old world monkeys of today. The mandrill is a spectacular sight to see at a zoo or in the wild. The male mandrills have a spectacular face. It seems to glow in the dark at night when a light is shined on it. Their faces are mainly blue with a red snout.Its bottom lip is red also. It has a beard which is mainly yellow.
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Body Structure Information:The eyes of the mandrill are pointing forward.The mandrill has a long muzzle permiting it's long teeth.The Mandrill's face is equipped with a berad mane and crest.These three things serve as a signal that the individual mandrill belongs within the group. Food:The Mandrill's diet mainly consists of insects such as, soiders, snails, worms, ants,and other small, ground vertebrates.It may also eat fruits,types of grasses herbs and many other plants.
 

 

Shelter/Habitat:  The mandrills usually sleep in trees in the rainforest. The mandrill lives in rainforests in Western-Central Africa.
 
 

 

Relationship with other animals:The Mandrills live in family herds of one old male, several females and their offspring. The mandrills main enemy is the Leopard.
Important Additional Facts:An offspring can be born during any time of the year.Although they are usually born within December and February.

Zoo Habitat Requirements:The mandrill needs a bit of space in which it can pick bugs out of rotting stumps and places to sleep. Zoo Observations:In the houston zoo I observed the mandrill. It had two or three rotting stumps which it had been picking at. It also had a log which the mandrill was resting on. Also i spotted another monkey in the cage. I did not find out what this monkey was.
